“…Additional microfossil assemblages from outcrop samples were studied according to the procedures described in Pearson et al (2004). Cretaceous planktonic foraminifer biozonation used in this study combines the zonal concepts used by Nederbragt (1991) for heterohelicids and Robaszynski and Caron (1995) for globotruncanids, as used in Pearson et al (2006).…”

“…mayaroensis Gradstein et al (1995), Nederbragt (1991) and Robaszynski and Caron (1995). In addition, our own observations concerning the presence or absence of Sigalia defiaensis in the Dicarinella asymmetrica zone and indeterminate 'long zones' along the Matandu to Nangurukuru road section are also shown.…”

“…The other three sections (El Aqabah, El Rawdah and Malaqet) yielded several larger foraminiferal species (Loftusia morgani, Orbitoides apiculata, O. media, Omphalocyclus macropora, Lepidorbitoides minor, Sulcoperculina dickersoni, and Siderolites calcitrapoides, which also support a Late Campanian-Maastrichtian age for the deposits studied. The taxonomy followed here is based on that adopted by Robaszynski et al (1984), Caron (1985), Loeblich & Tappan (1988), Nederbragt (1991) and Robaszynski & Caron (1995), with special reference to the catalogue of index foraminifera by Ellis & Messina (1967). Fifty-three foraminiferal species and subspecies were recovered.…”

“…Additional literature adopted are Ellis and Messina (1940), Bolli (1957), Nederbragt (1991, Koutsoukos (1996Koutsoukos ( , 2014, Olsson et al (1999) Premoli Silva and Verga (2004), Huber (2006) Remarks: Heterohelix globulosa usually shows globular chambers that grow gradually, being covered by thin costae. According to Nederbragt (1991), H. globulosa shows variations in the size, robustness of ornamentation and depth of its chambers, and the overlap of the subsequent chambers. In the examined material, this morphological variation is clear, but due to the preservation the identification was not possible.…”
