Las representaciones de la familia en Twitter: una panorámica desde la perspectiva de las virtudes sociales [The representations of family in Twitter: an overview from the perspective of social virtues]

Abstract

This article analyses the representations of the family on Twitter from the framework of the ''roots of sociability'' or ''social virtues''. The methodology was inductive-deductive to identify and select the ''topoi'' or common places (cultural or anthropological) related to social virtues. The research is based on a selection of tweets published in Spanish with the hashtag ''#familia'' in 2014. The sample was non-probabilistic, strategic and stratified. The results indicate the importance of the family topic in content posted on Twitter, the significant presence of anthropological values, and ''pietas'' as a social virtue most frequently mentioned in the ''tweets''. Also, the results reflect the diversity of representations about the family in Twitter and the possibilities of this social network for interaction, dissemination and exchange of information on issues affecting social life. This study leaves open the possibility for new lines of research to go in-depth into the communication processes on social networks. RESUMEN Esta investigaci on analiza las representaciones de la familia en Twitter a partir de los radicales de la sociabilidad o las virtudes sociales. La metodolog ıa fue inductiva-deductiva al identificar y seleccionar los ''lugares comunes'' o topoi culturales y antropol ogicos relativos a las virtudes sociales. El estudio se realiz o seleccionando los tuits publicados en español con el hashtag #familia durante el año 2014 y elaborando un muestreo no probabil ıstico, estrat egico y estratificado. Los resultados indican la importancia del tema familia en contenidos publicados en Twitter, la presencia significativa de los valores antropol ogicos y de la pietas como el radical de la sociabilidad con mayor frecuencia en los mensajes. Adem as, reflejan la diversidad de representaciones de la familia y las posibilidades de esta red social como ciberespacio para la interacci on, difusi on e intercambio de informaci on sobre temas que afectan a la vida social. Planteamos un estudio que deja abiertas nuevas v ıas de investigaci on para profundizar en los procesos de comunicaci on que se desarrollan en las redes sociales.
