“…Many paediatric surgeons use the laparoscopic approach because of the several advantages, such as obtaining seromuscular biopsies of the proximal bowel to confirm normal ganglion cells and easy laparoscopic mobilization of the bowel [8,9]. However, often, the price to pay for these advantages is a longer operative time, as reported by Ghirardo et al and Travassos et al in their respective comparative series [10][11][12]. The fact that many of the benefits of the pull-through procedure can be attained by transanal pull-through alone raises the question about the long-term outcome of those patients who have been treated laparoscopically.…”

“…The Z-shaped colorectal side-to-side anastomosis was introduced by Ikeda [4] in 1967 to improve the Duhamel procedure; it eliminates the rectal blind pouch and completely divides the colorectal spur. In Japan, Z-shaped, colorectal, side-to-side anastomosis has been the most popular procedure, providing satisfactory long-term results [6,7].Recently, minimally invasive surgeries, including a laparoscopic operation and transanal endorectal pullthrough (TEPT) with or without laparoscopy [8][9][10][11][12][13], have been introduced and are becoming increasingly popular …”
