Laparoscopic repair of indirect inguinal hernia containing endometriosis, ovary, and fallopian tube in adult woman without genital anomalies

Abstract: Indirect inguinal hernia containing an ovary is a rare condition, especially in adult women who do not have any other genital tract anomalies. In addition, inguinal hernia containing an ovary and endometriosis is exceedingly rare. In the present report, we describe a case of indirect inguinal hernia containing an ovary, fallopian tube, and endometriosis. Laparoscopic repair was performed successfully using polypropylene mesh for the treatment of the inguinal hernia.

“…In that case report, hernia sac size was 4×5 cm. Compare to Kim et al's case report [ 5 ], the patient of our case showed larger hernia sac but contained only the left fallopian tube without ovary or any other organ. In addition, the patient was younger and had no history of pregnancy which means the patient had lower risk of abdominal wall or ligamental weakness.…”

A laparoscopic approach with using TEP mesh repair was successful, with good cosmetic outcomes and less pain after surgery.…”

“…El canal inguinal es un espacio formado por las aponeurosis de los músculos oblicuos de la pared anterolateral del abdomen y se extiende desde el anillo superficial al profundo con una longitud aproximada de 4 cm [1] . Se sabe que en las mujeres esta estructura no está tan bien delimitada como en los hombres [2] pero que, sin embargo, la incidencia de hernia inguinal es mucho más frecuente en estos últimos.…”
