“…However, no blinding of outcome assessors was undertaken, and the study seemed to have been slightly underpowered. The six nonrandomized Level III-2 comparative studies (7)(8)(9)(10)(11)(12) were limited by poor reporting of methodologic detail. Inclusion/exclusion criteria were not clear and matching (if undertaken) was relatively superficial; it was not clear whether there had been losses to follow-up.…”

“…Conversion rates ranged from 0% in 11 studies (14, 26, 39, 40 -42, 44, 47) to 13.3% (33). Reasons for conversion included vascular complications in 21 cases, perioperative bleeding in 11 cases, mechanical complications in 14 cases (including 6 cases of splenic capsule injury), and hemorrhage in 6 cases (11,13,18,19,25,26,28,30,32,33,35,37,38,42,44,45).…”

“…One of the advantages of this type of surgery is its low invasiveness. 1,2 Laparoscopic colorectal surgery and appendectomy have lower incidences of surgical site infection (SSI) than open surgery. 3,4 However, the incidence of SSI in urologic laparoscopic surgery remains to be determined.…”
