The field of Visual Communication Design (VCD) in Indonesia requires students and graduates to enhance their English language skills to stay competitive globally. However, there is a significant gap in understanding the specific English language material needs of students and graduates in this field, so it needs to be more understanding of their particular linguistic needs. This mixed-methods study aims to explore the disparities in English language skills perceived by VCD students and graduates in Indonesia and identify their specific English language material needs. . Through questionnaires, interviews, and focus group discussions, data were collected from 30 students and 10 graduates. The findings reveal differences in language proficiency or skills perspectives between VCD students and graduates , emphasizing the importance of designing language courses that align with learners' specific needs and industry demands. This study's implications for English language education in various industries highlight the significance of effective communication in a globalized world. By addressing learners' specific language demands, educators can better support students' language learning goals and prepare graduates for success in their professional endeavors. Implementing industry-specific language instruction and curriculum can enhance learners' competitiveness and communication in the workplace, promoting stronger international collaborations within the creative industries. Although challenges may arise in implementing changes, a partnership between academic institutions and industry stakeholders can bridge the gap between academic language learning and real-world language demands. Addressing learners' needs in English language education can ultimately contribute to their professional growth and success in the global market.

Pandemi Corona-19 yang telah melanda sejak 2019 ini sangat berakibat pada berbagai askpek kehidupan dikarenakan beberapa kebijakan untuk menekan penyebaran virus tersebut. Salah satu kebijakan dari pemerintah yaitu pembelajaran dalam jaringan (daring) yang dimulai pada tahun 2020 hingga awal 2022. Hal ini menyebabkan siswa baru sangat minim bertatap muka pada hampir dua tahun masa belajar disekolah dan membuat pembelajaran kurang maksimal, utamanya dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris sebagai Bahasa Asing. Oleh karena itu, tim pengabdian dari Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia memberikan pelatihan tips dan trik mahir Bahasa Inggris untuk siswa siswi kelas XI di SMA Padang Cerimin di masa pembelajaran yang sudah mulai dilakukan secara luar jaringan (luring). Pada kegiatan ini, tim pengabdian menggunakan metode pendidikan masyarakat. Hal ini bertujuan agar siswa siswi lebih mudah dalam memahami Bahasa Inggris dikarenakan kegiatan ini fokus langsung kepada tips dan trik untuk mendukung materi yang diterangkan oleh guru.

The issue of poor communication skills among undergraduates, which hamper their performance during internship and employment, has been researched extensively in the literature. However, empirical studies on what the interns have gained and learnt from the internship have not been widely explored. This paper presents the findings of a study of Accounting interns’ experiences in their English communication during their six-month internship at respective companies in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The study employed a qualitative research method using semi-structured interviews with five undergraduate interns from the Faculty of Economics and Management of a public university in Malaysia. Interviews with the managers and supervisor who were in charge of the respondents were also carried out. The interview data was transcribed verbatim, coded and analyzed into specific themes and subthemes using Braun and Clarke’s (2006) six-step thematic analysis. The interns’ data was triangulated with supervisor and managers’ views and validated by three independent coders using the Cohen’s Kappa Reliability Test. The findings of the study show that during the internship, the accounting interns gained valuable experience in practicing their English communication skills, which included opportunities to communicate with clients, colleagues and supervisors, enhance professional communication, learn new terms and knowledge and lastly improve their self-confidence. The language and communication skills in which the interns were still lacking need to be addressed by the university in its efforts to produce Accounting graduates who are competent in English communication.
