“…Whereas, Fe 3 O 4 @AgNO 3 and Fe 3 O 4 @AgCl samples exhibited more than 80% bactericidal activity by 20 min and complete disinfection performance by 40 min. In the literature, the antibacterial activity of silver-based compounds has been attributed to both contact killing and cell membrane disruption due to metal ion intrusion. , Therefore, the leaching of silver from both these compositions was analyzed for 1 and 2 h duration using inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES). Near-identical leaching of silver to the tune of 0.405 ± 0.01 ppm was observed from both the material compositions for 1 and 2 h. This observation majorly indicates two aspects: (i) No difference between Fe 3 O 4 @AgNO 3 and Fe 3 O 4 @AgCl samples in terms of silver ion leaching; (ii) An adsorption–desorption equilibrium exists in the samples, which is why there was no difference in the quantity of leached silver in 1 and 2 h of duration.…”

“…At first, a solution containing 5 mL of 0.9% NaCl and 50 μL of E. coli culture with a cell population of 1 × 10 7 to 1 × 10 8 cells/mL was taken in a 50 mL conical flask. 57 To this was added about 2 mg of the material composition and then incubated for different time periods. About 10 μL of the culture was withdrawn from the conical flask after each time period that was mixed with 20 μL of water before plating in LB agar plates, which were then incubated in an orbital shaker overnight at 37 °C.…”

“…The cytotoxicity of the CA–amino acid complexes was studied in triplicate against mouse fibroblast (SNL 76/7) cells for 24 h, following the literature protocol of the MTT assay with the required customization. For this, the concentration of the CA–amino acid complexes was studied up to 25 mM. After the treatment of the cells with the specified concentration of the CA–amino acid complexes, the formazan crystals formed by the viable cells were dissolved in DMSO (as per the protocol), and the absorbance of the resultant solutions was recorded at 570 nm.…”

“…13 Lipases belonging to the hydrolase class of enzymes are commonly employed in various sectors like food, detergent, cosmetic, bioenergy, bioplastic and other environmental applications. [14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21] It is evident from the literature that lipases obtained from fungal sources are commonly employed for various applications due to their high yield, stability and specific activity. However, it can be noted that the mycotoxins produced by many such species could be detrimental to the environment and human health.…”
