Laboratory Applications of Microstructured Devices in Student Education

Abstract

In this chapter, first experiences with the use of microstructured devices for the education of future scientists and engineers at universities and technical universities are presented based on experimental lab classes that have already been or are currently being established. The different experiments are intended for both undergraduate and graduate students. Considering the learning goal to be achieved and the basic theoretical knowledge, experimental set-ups are described and experiments are discussed. Experimental results are presented in order to evaluate if the anticipated goals of the experiments have been achieved. This evaluation then serves as the basis of the future extension and intensification of experimental lab classes.
