Label-free electrochemical aptasensing of the human prostate-specific antigen using gold nanospears

Abstract: Gold nanospears were electrodeposited with the assistance of arginine as a soft template and precise selection of experimental parameters. The nanospears were then employed as a transducer to immobilize an aptamer of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) and fabrication of a label-free electrochemical aptasensor. The aptasensor was employed for the detection of PSA with a linear concentration range of 0.125-200ngmL(-1) and a limit of detection of 50pgmL(-1). The aptasensor was successfully applied to detect PSA in b… Show more

“…[12][13][14][15] In this regard, a lot of attention has been paid to synthesis of nanostructured materials using natural species such as algae, yeasts, bacteria, fungi, biological compounds, and plant extracts. 16 In such synthesis of metal nanostructures, these compounds act simultaneously as reducing, shape-directing, structure-stabilizing, capping, and aggregation-inhibiting agents due to the proteins, enzymes, carbohydrates, aldehydes, etc.…”

“…In the past decades, there have been considerable attentions to the synthesis of metal nanostructures due to their different physical and chemical properties related to their similar large-scale ones, and potential applications in optical, electronic, catalytic and magnetic devices [27][28][29]. Among the metal nanostructures, nickel nanostructures have attracted much attention due to their applications in fabrication of sensors, biosensors, catalysts and conducting and magnetic materials [30][31][32][33][34][35][36][37].…”
