Abstract: In early Francoism in Barcelona, the creation of the Instituto de Estudios Hispánicos de Barcelona in 1948, inaugurated by the Foreign Office Minister Alberto Martín-Artajo, was essential for a confluence of geopolitical and cultural interests.
