“…Pour ce changement de lieu de vie, la décision relève plus souvent d'une nécessité que d'un choix (Castle, 2003 ;Rioux, 2008 ). L'individu perd son statut antérieur pour devenir un nouvel arrivant parmi des personnes regroupées non pas autour de valeurs, de croyances ou d'idées communes, mais plutôt sur la base d'un dénominateur commun qui se résume à une vulnérabilité sur le plan de la santé.…”

The end of the self-determined continuum is represented by AM (Deci & Ryan, 1985;2008;.…”

“…Regarding this change of living and, consequently, the change in the way of life, the decision is more often a necessity than a choice (Castle, 2003; Rioux, 2008; Sury, Burns, & Brody, 2013), and the individual must develop a new network to best adapt to the foreign environment and the new lifestyle (Vercauteren & Chapeleau, 1995). Adjustment to a new environment involves developing new behaviours that meet the demands of the environment as well as developing new skills, including qualities such as problem solving or managing anxiety (Bizzini, 2004; Freeman & Roy, 2005).…”

“…Approximately 728,000 older people presently live in nursing homes in France, representing 9% of people aged 75 or more, one-third of whom are over 90 years old (DREES, 2015). The decision to move into a nursing home is more often a necessity than a choice (Rioux, 2008), and living in a new environment with new social networks can be difficult, particularly in terms of adaptation (Vercauteren & Chapeleau, 1995). Such a move is an individual experience, and the adaptation process may take time with people experiencing different types of change and degrees of stress (Riedl, Mantovan, & Them, 2013).…”
