L‐4: Late‐News Paper: A Novel Display Method for Field Sequential Color LCD without Color Break‐up

Abstract: We have developed a novel display method for field sequential color LCD without color break up, which we call Adjustment of Color Element on the Eyes (ACE). In this method, the RGB color sub-images of motional image dispose on the eyes.

“…Color sequential technology, also known as field sequential color, is becoming popular as a method for eliminating the color filters in LCDs to enhance their light efficiency [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9]. To make color sequential direct-view LCDs, the backlight sequentially emits red (R), green (G), and blue (B) light, and the LCD panel is synchronized with the backlight to display the required gray levels of each color.…”

“…Whereas in case of TDC, because OLED is self-emissive element, we can control the emission order easily. In the case of FS-LCD, the color break-up of fast-moving image becomes a serious problem because the LED backlight turns on monochrome R, G, or B color at different time [8]. So it needs fast frame frequency to improve the color break-up, and nothing is illuminated until the whole image is scanned.…”

“…Dynamic false contour (DFC) is the major drawback of picture quality performance in motion contents in PDPs. CBU is defined that the time sequence of colors which is constructing white color of the display are broken by some reasons then it produces color aberration visually in motion contents [3] [4]. DFC is generated by the subfield driving mechanism in PDPs.…”
