“…It shows an hypodense cystic image, in the middle of the parenchyma with the same density as the cerebrospinal fluid and a thin wall, exerting a mass effect on the medial structures and lateral ventricles without peri-lesional oedema or enhancement after injection of the contrast agent. 1 Calcifications are rare, seen in less than 1% of cases. 6 Magnetic resonance imaging is also useful; it is more effective in detecting multiple cerebral hydatid cysts and defines better the relationship of the lesion with neighboring structures, which helps in surgical planning.…”
