Konflik Antar Generasi Dalam Radio Komunitas

Abstract

A community radio station was set up to serve the interests and needs of the community. However, along with its development, community radio can not be fully run based on the concerns of its members. It must adapt to major challenges in order to survive. The research was conducted at the Dapur Remaja Community Radio (RKDR) in Cinangka, Sawangan, Depok, West Java. The aim of this research is to address the crossgenerational communication gap that occured after the second-generation manager has led the station. The critical constructivist research paradigm was used in this study. Data was collected using FGDs, in-depth interviews, and field observations. The results of the study found that there was a communication gap between younger community radio managers and older community members, due to changes in social and cultural communication patterns, which affected their understanding of community radio management. The younger managers are considered less accommodative towards existing community activities and are more interested in finding ways to make community radio more profitable, so that community engagement, values and interests are understated.
