Knowledge regarding emergency management of avulsed teeth among elementary school teachers in Jaboatão dos Guararapes, Pernambuco, Brazil

Abstract: A lack of technical information was observed among teachers regarding management of tooth avulsion. Educational campaigns at schools are necessary to modify the behavior of the teachers with regard to management of tooth avulsion. Further studies should be carried out for the assessment of teachers who have participated in educational campaigns to make the treatment of dental trauma a matter of public interest.

“…From the first questionnaire, we know that there are many teachers who did not know how to collect the knocked out tooth and don't know the storage media that can be used to contain the tooth. As mentioned in other studies, the level of teachers' knowledge about the first aid of dental avulsion is still very low [9,11,20,21,23]. Most teachers suggested alcohol and disinfectant, which can compromise tissue repair and create a poor prognosis of the replantation.…”
