A study was conducted in Gaya District of Bihar during the 2022-23 period to assess the level of knowledge among farmers regarding improved onion production practices. The study selected a total of 120 respondents from five villages within the Bodhgaya block, based on the high concentration of onion growers in the district. The data was collected through personnel interviews using a pre-structured interview schedule and subsequently analyzed using appropriate statistical methods. The findings revealed that the majority of respondents (62.5%) belonged to the middle age range, and 43.33% of them had marginal land holdings. Most respondents had a moderate level of extension contact, scientific orientation, risk orientation, and economic motivation. Additionally, 64.17% of the respondents exhibited a medium level of knowledge regarding onion production practices. The respondents displayed a good understanding of topics such as soil types, ploughing, farmyard manure (FYM) application, onion varieties, seed treatment, sowing time, nursery transplanting, seed rate, weeding and hoeing, and the suitable season for growing and harvesting onions. However, they had relatively less knowledge about seed treatment and nursery transplanting. Furthermore, factors such as age, educational qualifications, family size, housing patterns, land holdings, annual income, extension contact, source of information, scientific orientation, economic motivation, and risk-bearing capacity showed positive and significant correlations with the knowledge levels of onion growers. In summary, the study demonstrated that farmers in the Gaya District of Bihar had varying levels of knowledge regarding improved onion production practices. While they possessed a good understanding of certain aspects, there were areas where their knowledge could be further enhanced.

The present study was carried out in Mokokchung district of Nagaland to analyze the knowledge level of the farmers towards the propagation of off season cucumber. Purposive and random sampling techniques were used for the selection of the respondents and a total of 120 respondents were selected from 3 village. A pre-structured interview schedule was used for the collection of data. The study revealed that majority of the respondents were middle-aged, literate individuals with nuclear families and small family sizes. Majority of them had farming experiences of between 10-20 years. It was revealed that most the farmers were small farmers based on the size of their lands and a large number of the respondents had medium level of income, had medium level of extension contact and mass media exposure. The level of knowledge regarding the propagation of off season cucumber practices was medium level. Majority of the respondents had proper knowledge about the recommended varieties of off season cucumber, sowing time, seed treatment, field preparation, method of sowing, spacing, harvesting, and weed management. However, the respondents were found to have partial knowledge in areas such as seed rate, recommended quantity of FYM, methods of irrigation, disease control, and pest control.

Aim: To assess the Knowledge level of Onion growers on Improved Onion production technologies and to find out the Relationship between personal, socio economical and psychological characteristics of onion growers with their knowledge level. Study Design: “Ex-post facto” research design. Place and Duration of the Study: The present study was conducted during 2017–18 in Gadag district of Karnataka. Methodology: Two villages from each of the four Taluks of Gadag district were randomly selected and from eight villages, 15 respondents were selected from each village by adopting random sampling method to form a sample of 120 farmers. Data was collected from the respondents by personal interview method using a pre-tested structured interview schedule. Results: Majority of the farmers have medium level (42.50%) of knowledge followed by high level (31.66) of knowledge. Further study revealed that farmers had cent percent knowledge on seed rate, time of sowing, irrigation and weeding, whereas low level of knowledge on transplanting (10%), fertilizer dose (10%) and plant protection (15%). Independent variables like, Education, Mass media exposure, Extension contact, Management Orientation were have significant relationship with knowledge level of onion growers at 1 per cent level of significance, While Age, Farming experience, Innovativeness, Extension participation, Social participation and Risk Orientation at 5 per cent level of significance and variables such as Family size, Land holding , Area under Onion cultivation, Annual income exhibit non-significant relationship with knowledge level of onion growers. Conclusion: Significant portion of respondents were having medium level of knowledge with most of the independent variables contributing significantly towards their knowledge level on improved onion production technologies.
