Knockdown of long non-coding RNA H19 inhibits multiple myeloma cell growth via NF-κB pathway

Abstract: Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are implicated in the complex network of cancer including Multiple myeloma (MM) and play important roles in tumor development. lncH19 was significantly up-regulated in multiple cancer types, suggesting it is a potential oncogene. However, the exact functions and downstream mechanisms are largely unknown. This study aimed to investigate whether H19 participates in the cell growth of MM and elucidate the underlying mechanism. We found that H19 was abnormally overexpressed in MM cel… Show more

“…Many studies have shown that lncRNAs are dysregulated in cancer and involved in oncogenic or tumor inhibitory processes (15). The aberrant lncRNAs expression including OIP5-AS1 (16), MALAT1 (17,18), MEG3 (19), CRNDE (20), H19 (21), UCA1 (22), and PACT1 (23) have been reported in MM. However, the investigation of lncRNA in MM is still in primary, and the understanding of their biological function needs to be progressively elucidated.…”

“…The role of lncRNAs in MM has drawn increasing attention from researchers. The classic lncRNA molecules MALAT1 , MEG3 , and H19 are still heavily researched in MM [33-35]. In addition, some new lncRNAs are gradually being discovered.…”

“…LncRNA is abnormally expressed in many diseases, and functions as a vital regulator in gene expression. For example, the abnormally upregulated lncRNA H19 has existed in multiple myeloma, and further regulates the activation of the NF-kB pathway [7]. LncRNA LINC00978 is adiagnostic biomarker of gastric CONTACT Fengyan Zhang zhangfengyanx@aliyun.com This article has been republished with minor changes.…”
