Kıvırcık Koyunlarda Sinus Interdigitalis’in Morfolojik ve Immunohistokimyasal Özellikleri

Abstract: Interdigital sinus secretions play a role in sexual behavior and reproductive process of sheep. In the present study, it was aimed to characterize the topographical, anatomical and immunohistological features of interdigital sinus in Kivircik sheep. The interdigital sinuses were dissected from 50 forefeet of female Kivircik sheep which were slaughtered in the slaughterhouse. The shape of sinus resembled a pipe and was located between the proximal and distal interphalangeal joints of two digits. The wall of int… Show more

“…Length of the gland's corpus was determined as 6.95 mm in female Kıvırcık sheep by Süzer et al [28] and 9 mm in Akkaraman sheep by Çalışlar [18] . In Hemshin sheep, total length of the gland was determined as averagely 27.92 mm, length of its corpus as 8.39 mm and length of its duct as 19.92 mm.…”

“…Contrary to Janicki et al (2003), who reported that the interdigital gland of roe deer (Capreolus capreolus L.) was devoid of connective tissue capsule and sweat glands, the connective tissue capsules layer in our study consisted of a few fibrocytes and fibroblast layers, dense collagen fibres, adipose tissue and blood vessels. In a study conducted on Kivircik sheep (Süzer et al, 2016), it was reported that the epithelium of apocrine sweat glands was simple columnar in the body and simple cuboidal in the neck. In our study, the epithelium of apocrine glands was observed as a single layer of cuboidal epithelium.…”

“…Apocrine sweat glands are considered to be pheromone‐producing odour glands (Beir et al., 2005 ; Bigiani et al., 2005 ) and their secretions have an important role in the delimitation of territorial space (Atoji et al., 1995 ; Evans, 1988 ). The interdigital sinus contains a large amount of apocrine glands in its structure (Süzer et al., 2016 ).…”
