Objective: To identify the proxemic factors determining nursing professionals' communication during hemodialysis, and analyze the influence of behaviors in interaction and care. Methods: Qualitative, exploratory and descriptive study developed with 22 nursing professionals from a systematic observation script, individual records of proxemic communication factors described by Hall, and a recorded situational interview. Content analysis by topic and observations resulted in a person-centered behavioral mapping. Results: Patients' gestures and the verbalization of the nursing team determine oscillations in the use and amplitude of bodily senses, and predominantly define the care actions in personal, social and public spaces. Conclusion: The physical space influences and can determine the proxemic behavior and the actions adopted by hemodialysis professionals. The mapping allowed the verification of how both can be favorable or not in interactions and care provided to patients. ResumoObjetivo: Identificar os fatores proxêmicos que determinam a comunicação dos profissionais de enfermagem durante a hemodiálise e analisar a influência dos comportamentos na interação e cuidado. Métodos: Estudo qualitativo, exploratório e descritivo, desenvolvido com 22 profissionais de enfermagem a partir de roteiro sistematizado de observação, registro individual dos fatores da comunicação proxêmica descritos por Hall e entrevista situacional gravada. A análise de conteúdo por temas e as observações resultaram no mapeamento comportamental centrado na pessoa. Resultados: Os gestos do paciente e a verbalização da equipe de enfermagem determinam oscilações no uso e na amplitude dos sentidos corporais, demarcam predominantemente as ações de cuidado nos espaços pessoais, sociais e públicos. Conclusão: O espaço físico influencia e pode determinar o comportamento proxêmico e as ações adotadas pelos profissionais na hemodiálise. O mapeamento permitiu verificar como ambos podem ser favoráveis, ou não, nas interações e no cuidado prestado ao paciente.

,6,9 ARTIGO ORIGINAL | ORIGINAL ARTICLE RESUMO O presente estudo tem por objetivo detetar T-patterns de comportamento de instrução em treinadores de jovens na direção da equipa em competição, utilizando para o efeito o programa THEME 5.0. Para a realização da presente investigação recorreu-se à metodologia observacional. Foram filmados 8 jogos de futebol de 4 treinadores que dirigiam equipas de Juniores "B" e juniores "A" que competiam nos campeonatos nacionais de Portugal e codificados os seus comportamentos de instrução através do sistema de observação SAIC. Os resultados obtidos revelaram a existência de padrões temporais de comportamento de instrução, quer na análise feita aos treinadores individualmente, quer na análise feita no conjunto dos treinadores. Os T-patterns analisados demonstram que os treinadores procuram preferencialmente prescrever soluções táticas e psicológicas, direcionadas ao atleta, recorrendo à comunicação verbal, bem como avaliar positivamente a sua execução e comportamento. Durante as substituições os treinadores fornecem indicações com conteúdo tático e psicológico ao atleta que vai entrar, elogiam a prestação do jogador que saiu e emitem informação à equipa. Palavras-chave: metodologia observacional, comportamento, instrução, padrões, futebol ABSTRACTThe present study aimed to detect T-patterns of instruction behavior in youth coaches in the direction of team in competition. The research took into account the observational methodology for the acquisition of the data, which was then analyzed using the program THEME 5.0. Eight football matches of 4 coaches who compete in the junior "A" and junior "B" levels teams competing in the Portuguese national championships were recorded and their instruction behaviors were coded through the observational system SAIC. The results revealed the existence of temporal patterns of instruction behavior, both in the overall and individual analysis of coaches. The detected T-patterns showed that the coaches tend to prescribe tactical and psychological solutions directed to the athlete, using the verbal communication, as well as positively evaluate their execution and behavior. During the substitutions coaches provide indications with tactical and psychological content to the substitute, praises the performance of the player who left the pitch and give information to the team.

Abstract. Attracting students' visual attention is critical in order for teachers to teach classes, communicate core concepts and emotionally connect with their students. In this paper we analyze two months of video recordings taken from a fourth grade class in a vulnerable school, where, every day, a sample of 3 students wore a mini video camera mounted on eyeglasses. We looked for scenes from the recordings where the teacher appears in the students' visual field, and computed the average duration of each event. We found that the student's gaze on the teacher lasted 44.9 % longer when the teacher gestured than when he did not, with an effect size (Cohen's d) of 0.69. The data also reveals different effects for gender, subject matter, and student Grade Point Average (GPA). The effect of teacher gesturing on students with a low GPA is higher than on students' with a high GPA. These findings may have broad significance for improving teaching practices.
