Indonesia is a megadiverse country. Butterflies become one of the Indonesian diversities. Indonesia has the second-highest butterfly species in the world with more than 2000 species. Flower plants are used by butterflies as hostplants and foodplant. The aims of this research were to know butterflies’ diversity and food plants in Mount Muria at Kudus City, Central Java. The research used the quadran sampling transect method with three stations (along 2 km). The research was conducted in March and June 2020. The tools used were insect net, termohigrometer, lux meter, digital camera, roll meter, GPS, ja,r and identification book. Data on butterflies diversity were analyzed by Shannon-Wiener (H’), Evenness index (E), Relative Abundance (Pi), Simpson Dominance Index (D), Density (KR) Frequency (FR), and Important Value Index (IVI). Results of the research showed that at least 40 species of six family butterflies found at Mt. Muria. Butterflies at Mt. Muria area has a medium diversity, medium evenness, and low dominance. Leptosia nina has the highest relative abundance, frequency, density and IVI (Important Value Index). Butterflies were found frequently feeding on flowers as hostplants and foodplants. 31 species of flower plants were found at Mt. Muria. The most used plant as hostplants and foodplants by butterfly is Lantana camara, and Chromolaena odorata from Verbenaceae and Asteraceae.

Bukit Tiga Puluh National park (TNBT) of Riau Province is a nature conservation area with a high diversity of fauna, one of which is the butterfly. Butterfly species diversity is influenced by the vegetation in their habitat. The TNBT utilization zone has a habitat type with varied vegetation. There is no information about the species of butterflies in the area. This study aimed to identify morphological character of butterflies and vegetation based on morphological characters. The method used was exploration. The catching area of the butterfly was the Granite waterfall and the Bukit Lancang path of TNBT utilization zone. Samples made as insectarium and herbarium. The identification of butterfly characters consisted of the head, thorax, abdomen, legs and wings. There were a number of different types of butterflies and plants between the Granite waterfall area (22 and 28 species) and the Bukit Lancang paths (5 and 9 species). The type of butterfly was dominated by the family Nymphalidae. This is due to the amount of vegetation and environmental conditions that are more favorable in the granite waterfall area. The key determinants of butterfly species are the characters of the wing. The results of this study can contribute to maintaining the TNBT butterflies in Riau Province and also as database information of butterflies species in Indonesia.

Bukit Tiga Puluh National Park (TNBT) is a nature conservation area that has a variety of important and interesting fauna, one of which is a butterfly. The existence of butterflies in an ecosystem acts as a bioindicator, pollinator, and high aesthetic value. The type and number of butterflies are influenced by various environmental factors, one of the most important factors is the types of plants as vegetation habitat. The existence of different habitat conditions can be found in several areas in the Talang Lakat Resort TNBT Utilization Zone, namely in the area of Mu'un Lake and Camp Granite. The study was to identify and inventory the Rhopalocera butterfly based on morphological characters and the presence of differences in habitat vegetation in the two areas in the TNBT utilization zone. The method used is the method of roaming with the help of insect nets. Sampling was carried out starting from the morning (08.00-11.00 WIB) until the afternoon (15.00-17.30 WIB). Samples obtained immediately made insectarium and identified. The results obtained are that there are some different types of butterflies and plants between the Granite Camp region (15 and 26 species) and mu'un lake (7 and 15 species). The butterflies obtained consisted of the Hesperiidae, Lycaenidae, Papilionidae, Nympalidae and Pieridae families. The highest number of species and individuals of butterflies in the two regions comes from the Nympalidae Family. The differences in the types of butterflies in the two regions are influenced by the quite high differences in the number of plant species that dominate in each region which is a habitat for butterflies. Besides physical factors also support the existence of butterflies (temperature, light intensity, humidity)
