"Before, Now & Then (Nana)" is the first Sundanese language movie in Indonesia. The film won the best artistic director award at the Indonesian Film Festival (FFI). The movie has a setting in West Java around the 1960s which is adapted from the Autobiographical novel Jais Darga Namauku by Ahda Imran. This research aims to identify the role of art director in the artistic layout of the film "Before, Now & Then (Nana)". The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques include interviews and documentation. This research uses three stages in analyzing data, namely data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. In testing the validity of the data, researchers used source triangulation which means comparing rechecking data from more than one source to ensure whether the data is correct or not. The results of this study indicate that in creating a setting (setting, costumes, makeup and lighting) of course there are things that are done by artistic stylists in the pre-production to post production stages. In the pre-production stage, the art director is responsible for the creative design aspect, designing the overall artistic concept of the movie. At the production stage the art director is responsible for all the sets or properties used. In the post-production stage, the art director evaluates all divisions within the artistic department. It can be concluded that the role of the artistic stylist or art director in this film plays an important role in building the 60s era in the film so that it can influence the truth or belief in the eyes of the audience through the artistic layout created.

This research article is about the use of translation strategy namely explicitation in the translation of a novel from Indonesian into English. The data source is an Indonesian novel entitled Lelaki Harimau written by Eka Kurniawan and its English translation, Man Tiger as the data source. The translation of a novel from Indonesian into English may not as many as the translation work from English into Indonesian. The novel creates commands and critics regarding its content as well as its language use. It is interesting to see how Indonesian culture reflected in the novel is presented in English through translation. The translator tries to do his best to provide equal information in the target language text as given in the source language text. The uniqueness in the source language text needs a hard work to do in delivering the closest natural equivalent in the target language text. Untranslatability is no longer issue as there are strategies of translation that can be applied, one of them is explicitation. The explicitation strategy used is the one proposed by Klaudy. Using descriptive qualitative method, this research is aimed at revealing the kind of information being explicitated, the forms of explicitation used, and the semantic information of the words explicitated. The results show that the kind of information is both cultural and non-cultural, and the forms of explicitation identified are all five of them and semantically all the words being explicitated become clearer, specific, and more informative

The narrative structure is always present in the story, whether consciously or unconsciously. This study discusses the narrative structure contained in the translation of the novel "Daddy Long Legs", or ‫الطويل"‬ ‫الظل‬ ‫,"صاحب‬ by Jean Webster (1912). It adopts a qualitative descriptive approach. The main source used in this study is the Arabic translation of the novel, which was translated into Arabic by Buthayna Al-Ibrahim in 2018 as ‫الظل"‬ ‫صاحب‬ ‫."الطويل‬ The data analysis technique begins with classifying and determining the narrative structure in the novel. Gerard Genette's (1980) narrative structure perspective was employed in this study. The results of this study showed that the narrative order contained in the novel was an anachrony, and that the duration of the narrative consisted of three forms; namely, pause, scene, and summary. It is also shown that the frequency in the novel was a type of single representation and anaphoric representation, and that the mood was internal focalization and zero focalization. The narrator's narration used in the novel is heterodiegetic and homodiegetic. The findings of this study strengthen previous studies in elaborating narrative structure based on Genette's perspective.
