K0SK0S final state in two-photon collisions and implications for glueballs

Abstract: The K 0 S K 0 S final state in two-photon collisions is studied with the L3 detector at LEP. The mass spectrum is dominated by the formation of the f 2 (1525) tensor meson in the helicity-two state with a two-photon width times the branching ratio into K K of 76 ± 6 ± 11 eV. A clear signal for the formation of the f J ( 1710) is observed and it is found to be dominated by the spin-two helicity-two state. No resonance is observed in the mass region around 2.2 GeV and an upper limit of 1.4 eV at 95% C.L. is deri… Show more

“…2 we list the variation of the total and partial decay widths of a 2 (1700) in terms of the R value. When R = 4.35 GeV −1 [33], the central value of the experimental total width of a 2 (1700) from L3 [56] can be reproduced by our calculation. The main decay modes of a 2 (1700) include πρ, ρω, πη, and πb 1 (1235).…”

“…The f 0 (1500) has not been measured either in γγ → K S K S by L3 Collaboration [26] or in γγ → π + π − by ALEPH Collaboration [27], implying that this state, if quarkonium, should be dominantly ss. However, the branching ratios for the decay into two pseudoscalar mesons are only compatible with an almost pure nn structure.…”
