“…In 2009, for all manuscripts in which a decision was made (N ¼ 441), 15.2% were accepted for publication. Of the accepted manuscripts 28% were from international authors (Figure 3) We calculated averages of key analysis areas for the complete set of annual reports prepared over the last 5 years (McGinnis, Collins, Charmatz, Schalk, & Henry, 2006;McGinnis, Collins, Charmatz, Dai, & Henry, 2007;, 2009, this issue) (see Table 1). Major trends over time include the following: the total number of new and revised manuscripts submitted to the journal increased substantially, from 250 in our first year to the mid-400s in the last 3 years, an 80% increase; the percentage of submissions by international authors, and the different countries they represented globally, increased annually, exceeding 40%; the number of publication decisions made annually increased considerably, from a low of 145 to a high of 441, a threefold increase; the average external review time ranged from a high of 138 days (our first year) to a low of 88 days (our second year), with the mode over our 5-year term approximating 4 months; and, the acceptance rate for the journal resided, generally, in the low to midteens with an average of 12.5%.…”
