“…Nutrients including NH4+, NO2, NO3, PO43 and SiO43 were measured spectrophotometrically on a continuous flow analyzer (SAN Plus, Skalar Analytical B.V.). Chl‐a was measured on discrete water samples using the in vitro fluorometric method with 90% acetone extraction and determined on a Turner Designs TD‐700 fluorometer (Giese, 1994). DIC, DOC and TDN were determined using a TOC/TN‐Analyzer (TOC‐5000; Shimadzu).…”

“…First is the Joint Global Ocean Flux Study (JGOFS; 1987–2003), sponsored by the Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research (SCOR) and ICSU (JGOFS, 1988). Its primary goals were to “improve the understanding of the processes related to global carbon cycle processes and flux of associated biogenic elements in the ocean, focusing on the interaction between atmosphere, ocean floor and continents,” and to “develop models which enable predictions about changes of biogeochemical processes causing climate changes” (Giese, 1994: 177).…”

“…Continuous ocean LHF monitoring is mainly located in low-latitude areas, which can improve the accuracy of ocean LHF estimates. Many experiments have been carried out to promote the study of air–sea turbulent fluxes [ 12 , 13 , 14 , 15 ], such as the Global Energy and Water Cycle Experiment ( GEWEX ) [ 16 ] and Joint Global Ocean Flux Study ( JGOFS ) [ 17 ]. Based on a large amount of experimental observations, the parameterization scheme of the turbulence flux algorithm has developed rapidly, and global ocean turbulence flux products with different scales and spatial and temporal resolutions have been produced.…”
