Joint estimation of object and probes in vectorial ptychography

Abstract: Vectorial ptychography has been recently introduced to reconstruct the Jones matrix of an anisotropic object by means of series of ptychographic measurements performed using a set of polarized illumination probes in conjugation with various analyzers. So far, the probes were assumed to be completely known (amplitude, wavefront, state of polarization), which is rarely the case in practice. Here we address the issue of the joint estimating of the set of polarized illumination probes together with the Jones matri… Show more

“…In previous works, we have demonstrated theoretically 34 and experimentally 27 how to use polarized illuminating probes, together with recording of the intensity diffraction patterns behind an analyzer, in order to reconstruct the Jones matrix map of the investigated object, in addition to the joint reconstruction of the each illumination probe used in the measurement, detailed in ref. 28 .…”

“…An obvious next step is to combine the orientation sensitivity of resonant X-ray microscopy with the high spatial resolution of ptychography. However, this program is not trivial (Ferrand et al, 2015(Ferrand et al, , 2018Baroni et al, 2019). Consider, for instance, a material which is transparent but birefringent and has alternating stripes with the slow axis horizontal or vertical.…”
