Jinshanibacter, a new genus of Budviciaceae: identification of Jinshanibacter zhutongyuii sp. nov. and Jinshanibacter xujianqingii sp. nov. isolated from cloacal content of snow finch (Montifringilla taczanowskii)

Abstract: Four novel strains isolated from the cloacal contents of snow finches (Montifringilla taczanowskii) were characterized as aerobic, Gram-stain-negative, slightly motile, and rod-shaped. Analysis of the 16S rRNA gene sequence revealed that strain CF-458T had the highest similarities of 96.9 and 96.4 % with Limnobaculum parvum HYN0051T and Pragia fontium … Show more

“…The former strain also did not grow at pH 10.0. All the above results were different from those previously reported [8], which might be caused by erroneous reading. On the other hand, P. fontium DSM 5563 T did not produce acid from d-galactose and d-xylose, whereas L. parvum KACC 19816 T showed positive response in activities of N-acetyl-β-glucosamidase, acid phosphatase, esterase (C4), leucine arylamidase and naphthol-AS-BI-phosphohydrolase, respectively, in contrast previously reported results [5,6].…”

“…Cells of the isolates were found to be non-motile. Members of the genus Jinshanibacter were recently described to be slightly motile based on motility test on semisolid agar [8] but they were shown to be non-motile in our study. The absence of flagella in the isolates and members of the genera Jinshanibacter and Limnobaculum was also confirmed in that most of the genes involved in flagellar biosynthesis and assembly were absent in their genomes, whereas P. fontium DSM 5563 T , which is known to be motile by means of peritrichous flagella [5], contained all the genes involved in flagellar biosynthesis and assembly (Table S1).…”
