ÖzetBu çalışmada sığır deri papillomatozisinin tedavisinde uzun etkili ivermektin'in etkinliği araştırıldı. Çalışmanın materyalini, 7 36 aylık, farklı ırk ve cinsiyette, klinik ve histopatolojik olarak papillomatozis teşhisi konulan 24 sığır oluşturdu. Çalışmaya alınan hayvanlar deneme (I. grup) ve kontrol (II. grup) olmak üzere 2 gruba ayrıldı. Deneme grubuna (n=16) 0.2 mg/kg dozda deri altı yolla tek doz uzun etkili ivermektin uygulandı. Kontrol grubuna (n=8) ise herhangi bir uygulama yapılmadı. Çalışmaya alınan bütün hayvanların kontrolleri iki hafta aralıklarla 90 gün süreyle yapıldı. Uzun etkili ivermektin uygulanan I. gruptaki 16 sığırdan 14'ünün (%87.5) 30 ile 90 gün arasında iyileştiği belirlendi. Kontrol grubundaki hayvanlarda ise iyileşme olmadığı görüldü. Sonuç olarak; sığır deri papillomatozisi'nin sağaltımında tek doz, uzun etkili ivermektinin %87,5 oranında etkili olduğu belirlendi. Twenty-four cattle with different ages (7-36 months of age), breed and sex with cutaneous papillomatosis were placed into two groups. Long action ivermectin at a dose of 0.2 mg/kg was administered subcutaneously as a single dose to the animals in Group I (experimental group; n=16). Group II (n=8) served as a control group and received no treatment. Animals were monitored at 15 days intervals up to 90 days. In Group II, 14 of 16 animals (87.5%) showed complete recovery within three months of observation period. No remission was observed in the control group. In conclusion ivermectin, as single long action dose application, is effective for the treatment of bovine cutaneous papillomatosis. Bovine cutaneous papillomatosis is a common cutaneous disease of cattle in the Egyptian veterinary field. Ocimum basilicum L. (Rehan) is one of the aromatic plants originating in Asia and Africa. Many studies showed that Ocimum basilicum has interesting antiviral and anticancer activities. However, there is no report demonstrating the clinical significance of the anti-papilloma activity of Ocimum basilicum against bovine skin papillomas. Thus, our study was designed to evaluate the therapeutic potential of Ocimum basilicum extract (OBEx) as an anti-papilloma agent against bovine papillomatosis. OBEx was prepared and undergone phytochemical analysis that revealed presence of alkaloids, phenolics, and flavonoids. Ten cutaneous papillomatosis-infected cattle were diagnosed clinically and histopathologically. Animals were treated with OBEx ointment 2% that topically applied daily and papillomas regression was recorded weekly. Clinically, papillomas started to disappear from the 7 th-21 st day after the start of treatment. Histopathological analysis showed improvement in histological features of wart tissue returning to the normal skin structure with presence of lymphocytic infiltration. We concluded that the topical application of OBEx is an effective, promising alternative, cheap, and easily apply agent for treatment of skin papilloma.

Coilocytic atypism of tumors of epithelial origin is considered as a marker of HPV infection, regardless of the type of neoplasm, which is a clinical manifestation of papillomatosis. Many neoplasms in dogs are diagnosed depending on the identification of specific cellular and tissue atypism, which underlies the histological diagnosis. According to the recent studies, the following types of neoplasm can be distinguished depending on the taxonomic affiliation of HPV: papillomas of various localization, cancerous epidermodysplasia verruciformis, pigment affects (including plaque), inverted and squamous papillomas, squamous cell carcinomas. Histological studies are an affordable diagnostic method that allows studying the morphological features of coylocytary atypism of squamous papillomas of dogs. Squamous cell papillomas in dogs have a number of morphological and cytological features, due to the predominance of the keratinization process. In this case, the process of differentiation of epithelial cells is consistent and all layers typical of the skin of dogs are distinguished. The corneal layer prevails over all the described layers, the activity of the cells of the basal layer is noted. Coilocytes are localized in a spinous and granular layer, but depending on their location, they have distinctive morphological and quantitative characteristics. Despite the polymorphism of the manifestation of coylocytary atypism in animals within the limits of specific affects, as well as depending on the type of neoplasm, there are no common morphological criteria for evaluating coylocytosis depending on oncogenesis. It was noted that the morphological and quantitative characteristics of coilocytes depend on their location, while they have a morphology described by many researchers, including in various animal species.
