ÖZ:Bu araştırmada, açık uçlu sorularla yapılan ölçmelerde klasik test kuramı (KTK) ve çok yüzeyli Rasch modeline (ÇYRM) göre hesaplanan yetenek kestirimlerinin karşılaştırılması amaçlanmıştır. Araştırma sekizinci sınıfa devam eden 100 öğrenci ile çalışmada puanlayıcı olarak görev alan dört matematik öğretmeninin katılımıyla gerçekleşmiştir. Çalışmanın verileri, açık uçlu altı matematik sorusundan oluşan bir başarı testi ve bu soruların puanlanmasında kullanılan bütüncül bir rubrik yardımıyla toplanmıştır. Açık uçlu matematik sorularına verilen yanıtların puanlanmasıyla elde edilen veriler, hem KTK'ya hem de ÇYRM'ye göre analiz edilmiştir. Dört puanlayıcının verdiği puanların ortalaması alınarak, KTK'ya ilişkin yetenek kestirimleri hesaplanmıştır. Ardından puanlayıcı, birey ve madde şeklinde üç yüzeyli bir desen ile çok yüzeyli Rasch analizi uygulanmıştır. Rasch analizinde ulaşılan ve logit cetvelinde rapor edilen yetenek kestirimlerinin puanlamada kullanılan rubriğin birimlerine dönüştürülmesiyle, iki kurama göre hesaplanan yetenek kestirimleri karşılaştırmaya hazır hale gelmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda; KTK ve ÇYRM'ye göre hesaplanan yetenek kestirimleri arasındaki göreli uyumun son derece yüksek olduğu belirlenmiştir. İki kurama göre hesaplanan yetenek kestirimlerine ait ortalamalar arasında anlamlı fark bulunduğu ve dolayısıyla mutlak bir uyumun söz konusu olmadığı saptanmıştır. ÇYRM'de rapor edilen yetenek kestirimlerinin ölçüt geçerliğinin KTK'dan elde edilen yetenek kestirimlerine kıyasla daha yüksek olduğu tespit edilmiştir.Anahtar sözcükler: açık uçlu sorular, klasik test kuramı, çok yüzeyli Rasch modeli, yetenek kestirimi ABSTRACT: The purpose of this study is to compare the ability estimations of classical test theory (CTT) and the Many Facet Rasch model (MFRM) in measurements conducted with open-ended questions. The study was conducted with 100 eighth graders and four mathematics teachers who rated the students' work. The study's data were obtained using an achievement test with 6 open-ended mathematics questions and a holistic rubric for scoring these questions. The data obtained by rating the open-ended mathematics questions were analyzed using both CTT and MFRM. The ability estimations for CTT were calculated using the score averages of the four raters. Afterwards, Many Facet Rasch analysis was conducted using a three-facet pattern including raters, students and items. The ability estimations calculated by these two theories were prepared to be compared by converting ability estimations obtained from the Rasch analysis and reported in the logit scale into the units of rubric used for scoring. This study found that the relative agreement between the ability estimations calculated using CTT and MFRM was extremely high. It was determined that there was a significant difference between the means of the ability estimations of the two theories, and thus no absolute agreement. Introducción. La escala para manías de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia es un instrumento diseñado para medir la gravedad de la sintomatología maníaca y sólo ha sido validada utilizando técnicas de teoría psicométrica clásica. Objetivos. Determinar las propiedades psicométricas y las características, como instrumento de medición, de la escala para manías mediante análisis basados en la teoría de respuesta al ítem. Materiales y métodos. Se evaluaron 264 pacientes con diagnóstico de episodio maníaco, hipomaníaco o mixto, usando la escala para manías. Se analizaron las características psicométricas del instrumento utilizando un modelo de Rasch de crédito parcial para datos politómicos. Resultados. El análisis mostró que, en contraste con los ítems, los índices de separación y la confiabilidad para personas fueron bajos, lo cual sugiere una posible representación reducida del constructo evaluado en esta muestra. La disminución de la necesidad de dormir fue el ítem más fácilmente detectable en los pacientes maníacos. La mayoría de ítems se ajustó a las expectativas del modelo (excepto el afecto depresivo y la capacidad de distraerse). El diagnóstico de la escala de puntuación mostró que las medidas promedio se incrementan monotónicamente a través de la escala. Dos ítems mostraron redundancia y podrían omitirse en versiones futuras de la escala. El mapa persona-ítem sugiere que el síndrome no queda completamente evaluado por la escala, probablemente debido a que algunos síntomas depresivos no se incluyeron en ella. Conclusiones. En este primer estudio de la escala para manías usando el análisis de Rasch, se detectó mal ajuste y redundancia de algunos ítems. El síndrome maníaco no queda completamente evaluado por la escala. The Mania Scale (EMUN) developed at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia was designed to measure the severity of manic symptoms, but has been validated only using classical psychometric theory. Objectives. The psychometric properties and measuring characteristics of the EMUN scale were determined using an analysis based on item response theory. Materials and methods. Two hundred sixty-four patients with manic, hypomanic or mixed episode symptoms were assessed using the EMUN scale. The psychometric characteristics of the scale were analyzed using a Rasch model for partial credit scoring. Results. The analysis based on the item response theory showed that reliability and separation indexes for persons are low in contrast to items. Test items and translation: capturing early conceptual development in mathematics reliably?

Translating items of educational tests from one language to another is problematic. Arriving at accurate translations of concepts formulated in a language that is grammatically and syntactically incommensurable with a target language is a concern that probably won't find resolution. And the very act of translation can obscure the accuracy of test items. Item Response Theory holds that only the ability of people tested and the difficulty of items should have an effect on the dataset. We report on an instance where a test was translated from German to English and then into isiZulu and Sesotho. We tested 106 pupils from similar socio economic backgrounds and schools. Our aim is to determine whether the translation had any effect on the accuracy of the instrument, which has been normed and standardised in Germany with a sample of 0ver 1000 grade 1 pupils.
