Currently, a new impetus for the innovative development of the Russian economy is associated with the formation and implementation of measures within the framework of the National Technology Initiative, aimed at the expansion of national high-tech companies into world markets. At the same time, there is a large-scale consumer of Industry 4.0 technologies in the domestic market – the extractive sector of the Russian industry, in need of technological support for innovative modernization. Today, the mining industry around the world is in a process of technological transformation, as digital and automated technologies are transforming traditional technologies for the extraction of energy and non-energy minerals. In the era of volatile global demand for raw materials, stricter safety and environmental requirements and dwindling profits, the mining industry must increase its investment attractiveness by radically increasing productivity as a result of the introduction of intelligent mining systems. Thus, new technological requirements of the Russian mining industry can be satisfied within the key areas of the National Technology Initiative. For this, it is important to unite the efforts of representatives of business, the scientific and educational community, the state, and international partners in the interests of the technological modernization of the mining complex as a factor of national economy development.

At present, the complex nature of the impact on the ecosystem in regions with intensive mining creates a multidimensional information “plume” consisting of data on mineral reserves, the state of mining operations, accumulated, current and future environmental pollution. The transition to the lean use of the subsoil and the reasonable disposal of mining waste requires fundamentally new forms of environmental information accumulation and processing during designing new enterprises and regulating the activities of existing ones. The most promising form of information support for the greening of mining is a geoportal. It is a complex of software and technological support for working with spatial data. Its key task is to provide the users with tools and services for storing and cataloging, publishing and loading spatial and environmental data, searching and filtering by metadata, interactive web visualization, direct access to geodata based on map web services.

Visualization of objects using computer programs can greatly facilitate the external presentation of projects of coal industry enterprises. Modern computer graphics make it possible to embody very realistic models, and since the creation of 3D objects takes less time than their implementation. 3D technologies allow you to present the model from all angles and eliminate the shortcomings identified in the process of its creation. Successfully implemented tasks in this work include: creation of a 3D model of the selected RoadHeader; importing the developed model into the Unity 3D game engine; create and customize animations for the above harvester model inside Unity. The 3D model created in this work for visual display of the equipment used in the development of coal deposits in the mining industry contributes to the improvement of the process of training specialists and work planning when training personnel to work with drilling equipment at the training stage. The presented development can serve as a visual representation in the study of the principles of mining machines, as well as in the creation of 3D objects and scenes for the tutorial “Virtual mine”.
