new ecological opportunities for Lupinus diversification (Janzen, 1967;Simpson, 1975). The phylogenetic relations within the genus are still under discussion because of lack of resolution (Käss and Wink, 1997;Hughes and Eastwood, 2006). Moreover, some species are highly variable, forming widespread polymorphic species alliances with complex infraspecific taxonomies, as exemplified by the Lupinus albifrons (Huang and Friar, 2011) and Lupinus microcarpus (Drummond and Hamilton, 2007) complexes in California and the Lupinus montanus complex (Dunn and Harmon, 1977) in Mexico, which is the focus of this study.These alliances are potential examples of incomplete speciation, in which the subspecies/varieties correspond to incipient or ephemeral species, as described by Rosenblum et al. (2012) and Levin (2005). They concluded that 3 main processes are involved in speciation, as suggested by Givnish (2010): 1) the initial origin of genetic differentiation among populations, 2) the evolution of reproductive isolation, and 3) the evolution of ecological divergence in the form of the speciation process. Abstract. Ten polymorphic microsatellite loci were developed for the butterfly Erebia palarica (Nymphalidae, Satyrinae), endemic to NW Spain. Polymorphism for 20 individuals from a NW Spanish population (Ancares) and 15 more from two other nearby localities (Courel, Trevinca) was assessed. Overall, the number of alleles per locus ranged from six to 24. Ancares showed an average number of alleles per locus of 14.30 (SD = 5.32), observed heterozygosity of 0.753 (SD = 0.14) and unbiased expected heterozygosity of 0.818 (SD = 0.114). Genotypic frequencies conformed to the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium at Ancares, and there was no evidence of linkage disequilibrium. Multilocus genotypes resulting from this set of markers will be useful for determining genetic diversity and differentiation within and among populations of this local endemic butterfly in NW Spain. Of the six loci amplified in the closely related species, Erebia meolans, five were polymorphic.

This study focused on the green peach aphid, Myzus persicae, as an indicator pest in Chinese cabbage cultivation to develop a genetic marker. We hypothesized that M. persicae gene flow is related to climate change. Genetic variation was analyzed using five local populations collected at different altitudes (157 m, 296 m, 560 m, 756 m and 932 m above sea level) in Hoengseong, Pyeongchang, and Gangneung areas, plus a laboratory strain used as an outgroup. There were no differences in ecological characteristics among strains. Esterase isozyme pattern and inter-simple sequence repeat (ISSR) PCR results showed significantly different bands between laboratory and wild, local populations. However, there was no difference among local populations. Partial fragments of ribosomal RNA (rRNA) and mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase I (mtCO I) were amplified and their nucleotide sequence was analyzed. Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were detected in internal transcribed spacer-2 (ITS-2) and mtCO I regions among the five local populations. These SNPs can be use to discriminate different populations of M. persicae to monitor gene flow.
