Alto Moxotó Terrane, a fragment of Columbia supercontinent in the Transversal Zone interior: Borborema Province, Northeast Brazil

In the central part or central subprovince of the Borborema Province, in the so-called Transversal Zone, an assemblage of Paleoproterozoic (predominantly Rhyacian) rocks occurs together with sparsely distributed Neoarchean nuclei. These rocks constitute the main basement of the Tonian (Cariris Velhos Cycle) and Ediacaran (Brasiliano Cycle) mobile belts. They are older tectonostratigraphic terranes and par excellence ramifying elements (as "inliers") of the Neoproterozoic orogenic constructions. This tectonostratigraphic terrane known as Alto Moxotó composes a litho-structural context typical of accretionary orogens, with the presence of granitic, granodioritic, and trondhjemitic orthogneisses (≈ arc-type associations) that stretch out for some hundreds of kilometers (Floresta Suite) and are partially covered by medium-grade pelitic-psammitic sequences (Sertânia Supergroup). This basement outline (Floresta Suite + Sertânia Supergroup) depicts an irregular sigmoidal shape, from the interior of Pernambuco (meridian 39ºW) to the Paraíba coastal area (meridian 34º45'W), along about 450 km, varying from 40 to 80 km in width, resulting in a total area of ca. 28,000 km 2. This Rhyacian petrotectonic scenario is conditioned and delimited by extensive (shear + thrust) faults that configure a tectonostratigraphic terrane. Moreover, there are pieces of continuity evidence of this tectonostratigraphic terrane not only in the basement of the adjacent Neoproterozoic mobile belts to the North and South of the TAM in Brazil, but also in Northern Cameroon, in Africa. Within this broader predominantly Rhyacian belt, some small Neoarchean gneissic and migmatitic nuclei were identified. The Rhyacian lithologies reveal evidence (T DM ages) of sources from a Neoarchean paleosubstrate. During the Statherian, the whole Rhyacian context was affected by a series of small-scale magmatic manifestations of varied petrologic composition: syenitic, granitic, granodioritic, and gabbro-anorthositic. In this paper, a synthesis of the bibliographic data is presented, including a series of unpublished (geologic and geochronologic) data that together validate our conviction that we are dealing with an extensive (reworked) fragment (TAM) derived from the basement of a Paleoproterozoic supercontinent (Columbia).

RESUMO:O Pluton Bravo (no Estado da Paraíba) constitui um stock elipsoidal formado por monzo/sienogranitos porfiríticos, enclaves dioritos e zonas híbridas. Está intrudido em gnaisses migmatíticos paleoproterozoicos do Domínio Central da Província Borborema. Os sienogranitos são metaluminosos a levemente peraluminosos, e exibem altas razões de K 2 O/Na 2 O > 1,5 e FeO t /(FeO t + MgO) > 0,86. Os dioritos possuem alto conteúdo de Zr (> 1.134 ppm), TiO 2 ~ 1,6% e Nb > (49 ppm). As razões (La N /Yb N ) N estão entre 14 e 19,4, e (Eu/Eu*) N , entre 0,31 e 0,37. As rochas do Pluton Bravo são moderadamente fracionadas com picos em La, Zr e forte depressão em P, Ti e menor em Sr. Os dados plotam no campo discriminante de granitos pós-tectônicos/intraplaca. As estimativas de pressão (4,4 a 6,0 Kbar) baseadas no conteúdo de Al t em anfibólio sugerem posicionamento do pluton na crosta superior a média. A temperatura do liquidus de acordo com o conteúdo de Zr e SiO 2 oscilou entre 847 e 893°C, e a de cristalização, calculada pelo par anfibólio-plagioclásio, entre 581 e 785°C. Exibem idades-modelo T DM = 2,35 a 2,18 e ε Nd (580 Ma) = -18,32 a -17,03. A idade U-Pb (LA-MC-ICP-MS U-Th-Pb em zircão) indica cristalização ao redor de 581 ± 2 Ma. A relação entre a idade de cristalização (~ 580 Ma), as características químicas de granito tipo-A, idades-modelo Sm-Nd maiores que 2,1 Ga e a associação com regime tectônico transcorrente contrastam com outros granitos similares, porém ligeiramente mais novos (~ 570 Ma), que ocorrem nos Domínios Central, Rio Grande do Norte e no leste da Nigéria. No Domínio Central da Província Borborema, Nordeste do Brasil, o cenário pós-colisional da Orogênese Brasiliana (tardi-neoproterozoica) foi marcado pelo desenvolvimento de uma complexa rede de zonas de cisalhamento direcionais, associadas a um extenso magmatismo ediacarano (Vauchez et al. 1995;Jardim de Sá 1994). Na região, esse magmatismo pode ser dividido entre um estágio transicional e um estágio pós-colisional propriamente dito. O primeiro estágio é representado principalmente por extensos granitoides (monzogranitos a monzonitos) de suítes cálcio-alcalinas de alto K a shoshoní-ticas associados a K-dioritos com características de granitos tipo-I e intrusivos entre 595 e 576 Ma (Guimarães et al. 2004;Van Schmus et al. 2011). Tal transição marca a passagem de um regime de deformação compressional para dominantemente transcorrente (Van Schmus et al. 2011;Guimarães et al. 2004). Nesse caso, as intrusões possuem variado conteúdo de SiO 2 , alto conteúdo de K 2 O (> 4%), #Fe [FeO t /FeO t + MgO] (0,49 -0,62), ausência de anomalia negativa de Eu, pequena depleção de Sr e idades-modelo T DM variando de 2,1 a 1,7 Ga (Van Schmus et al. 2011;Guimarães et al. 2004).
