Show more

“…The concentrations were lowest in human milk (0.02%) followed by moose milk (0.05%), camel milk (0.13%), and cow milk (0.14%). These contents were in the range reported for ruminant milk of 0.01% (Kramer et al, 2008) to 0.16% (Sen Gupta & Peters, 1966). 11-Cyclohexylundecanoic acid has been identified in rumen bacteria (Hansen, 1967) and uptake via food is most likely the primary if not exclusive source for its presence in human milk.…”

“…The diastereomers could be resolved after conversion into (R)-1-phenylethylamine derivatives [9]. However, a sufficient resolution of the phytanic acid diastereomers has also been obtained in form of methyl esters [10][11][12]. In most occasions, the multi-branched fatty acid had to be enriched from the fatty acid fraction due to its low concentrations in lipids.…”

“…The 4,8,12-trimethyltridecanoic acid, pristanic acid, and phytanic acid have been isolated from a marine oil and positively identified (28). Phytanic acid and other multiplebranched acids were also shown to be components of whale oil (29,30).…”
