“…Cottew (1956) reported the isolation of a mycoplasma from chickens with clinical CRD while typical lesions of mycoplasmosis and M. gallisepticum serum agglutinins were produced by the inoculation of an unidentified mycoplasma into susceptible chickens by Gilchrist (1963). However, it was several years before serologically confirmed isolates of M. gallisepticum were made in Australia (Rosenfeld 1971; Russell and Cottew 1972). Grimes and Rosenfeld (1972) produced clinical and histological signs of respiratory disease when strain 7 of M. gallisepticum (Rosenfeld 1971) was inoculated into the upper respiratory tract of chickens.…”
