Isolation and Identification of Antibiotic-Producing Halophilic Bacteria from Dagh Biarjmand and Haj Aligholi Salt Deserts, Iran

Abstract: Background: Halophilic bacteria are potent organisms in production of novel bioactive antimicrobial compounds which might be considered in drug innovation and control of plant pathogens. Salt deserts in Semnan province are of the most permanent hypersaline areas in the North of Iran. Despite the importance of these areas, there is no scientific report regarding the biodiversity and potency of their halophilic bacteria. Thus, aforementioned areas were selected to detect the halophilic bacteria. Methods: Here, s… Show more

“…The MIC value is detected as the lowest concentration for completely inhibition of the bacterial growth after 48 h. In addition, for detection of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 2020, 26(1), 88-92 | 90 the MIC rate against experimented pathogens, the various concentrations including (10 -1 g / ML to 10 -8 g / ml) were carried out according to described method by Elyasifar et al (2019). 16 Moreover, 5 μl of liquid from every well which exhibited no growth were taken and incubated for 24 h in the same condition for determination of MBC. The lowest concentration after sub-culturing that prevented no obvious bacterial growth was taken as MBC.…”

“…42 Elyasifar et al isolated halophilic bacterial belonged to Bacillus subtilis and Virgibacillus olivae, from Dagh Biarjmand and Haj Aligholi salt deserts in Iran with potential to produce antibacterial and antifungal agents. 43 Several aerobic naphthalene-degrading bacteria account for 86.9% of the hydrocarbon-degrading microorganisms found in gasoline-contaminated aquifers. 44 For the first time, Ben Said et al described the ability of Shewanella oneidensis species to degrade fluoranthene and pyrene as high molecular weight and, phenanthrene as a low molecular weight PAH.…”
