Isobaric Vapor–Liquid Equilibria of Binary Mixtures of Diethyl Carbonate with Methyl Acetate, n-Propyl Acetate, or Amyl Acetate at 100.17 kPa

Abstract: Carbonate esters and esters are widely used in the pharmaceutical industry. It is important to enrich the vapor−liquid equilibrium (VLE) database of these components. In this article, the isobaric VLE data of three binary mixtures diethyl carbonate (DEC) + methyl acetate, DEC + n-propyl acetate, and DEC + amyl acetate at 100.17 kPa were obtained. The experimental data were tested using the Van Ness consistency test, which indicated that the experimental data satisfy the test for thermodynamic consistency. The … Show more

“…The experimental pressures were not more than 101.3 kPa, at which the vapor phase was regarded as an ideal gas, as reported in the literature . Therefore, the vapor–liquid equilibrium relationship could expressed as where p is the total pressure of the VLE system, γ i is the activity coefficient of component i , and x i and y i are liquid phase and gas phase mole fractions of component i . p i s was calculated by the Antoine equation with the Antoine constants in Table .…”

“…Meanwhile, the modified Rose−Williams still had been verified in previous work. 21 The VLE data determined by the modified Rose−Williams still is reliable. In addition, the vapor or liquid phase samples were determined at least three times in each experiment to reduce the error.…”
