Is there any correlation between sperm parameters and chromatin quality with embryo morphokinetics in patients with male infertility?

Abstract: The main goal was to evaluate the correlation between sperm parameters and chromatin quality with embryo kinetics via time-lapse monitoring system (TLM). A total of 40 couples involved in the ICSI program as a result of male infertility. For assessment of sperm chromatin and DNA quality, we used aniline blue, toluidine blue, chromomycin A3, acridine orange and terminal transferase-mediated deoxyuridine triphosphate biotin end labelling assays. All mature oocytes were injected, and the generated zygotes (2PNs) … Show more

“…Abnormal sperm parameters and chromatin alteration affect the normal embryo kinetics in ICSI program. Several studies have examined the morphokinetic development of embryos in SMF cases [33][34][35][36][37]7]. We, too, evaluated the morphokinetic development of embryos, but, in addition, investigated any possible correlation between morphokinetics and chromosomal status in SMF cases.…”

“…Stimulation protocol was performed as described before by using agonist or antagonist of gonadotrophin‐releasing hormone (GnRH) and FSH (Gonal F;Serono; Mangoli et al, ). Stimulation procedures were similar during the period of study.…”

“…The implantation rate (IR) was the fraction among the numbers of gestational sacs and the sum of transferred embryos. Moreover, the clinical pregnancy was defined once a gestational sac with foetal heartbeat was obvious in ultrasound checkup after 6 weeks of gestation, and the live birth rate (LBR) was the percentage among the numeral of live births and the total of embryos transferred (Goswami, Sharma, Jugga, & Gouri, ; Mangoli et al, ).…”

“…However, decreased TQE developed on day 3 in the rescue ICSI group, with a similar number of oocytes retrieved compared with the conventional ICSI group. The influence of different semen parameters between rescue ICSI and conventional ICSI group was not considered in previous study [15], although they probably affect the embryo development [20,21] and chromosomal status [22]. Our current knowledge indicates that an oocyte in the fallopian tube after ovulation loses activity gradually if fertilization does not occur within 48 h. The process is similar in vitro, with an oocyte aging if it is not fertilized by spermatozoa and progressed to the cleavage stage [23].…”
