Irradiation resistance, microstructure and mechanical properties of nanostructured (TiZrHfVNbTa)N coatings

Abstract: a b s t r a c tNitrides of high-entropy alloys (TiHfZrNbVTa)N were fabricated using cathodic-vacuum-arc-vapordeposition method. Morphology and topology of the surface of the coatings, roughness, elemental and phase composition, microstructure and mechanical properties were investigated. Dependence of deposition parameters on surface morphology and elemental composition was demonstrated. Influence of the heavy negative charged Au À ions implantation on phase structure, microstructure and hardness of nitride (Ti… Show more

“…They can be used to solve the fundamental and applied problems, such as fabricating coatings, studying their structure and properties, or using the products covered with these coatings in practice [1][2][3][4][5]. The nitrides and carbides from HEAs significantly improve the characteristics of materials: radiation, wear, and corrosion resistance.…”

“…Determination of the mechanism of helium ions interaction with the coating material is possible when estimating the energies of the primary knocked out atoms (PKA). The energy E 2 obtained by the target atom in each individual collision is proportional to the energy of the incident ion and is determined by the relation [14,15]:…”
