Ion-dust streaming instability in a radially bounded dusty plasma

Abstract: The effect of radial boundaries on the ion-dust streaming instability is investigated. Possible applications of our work to certain low-temperature dusty plasma experiments are discussed. The effect of radial boundaries on dust-acoustic (DA) [1] and dust-ion-acoustic [2] waves in a collisional dusty plasma has been investigated previously [3] (see also [4,5]). In a cylindrical geometry, the radial boundaries lead to a frequency cut-off in the DA wave dispersion, i.e. the wave can have finite frequency as the ax… Show more

“…The effects of bounded system on Landau damping of dustacoustic space-charge waves, the effects of diffusion on the dissipation of waves in a turbulent plasma column, the effects of wake potential on the propagation of dust ion-acoustic waves, etc were also previously reported [13][14][15]. The dispersion relations for plasma waves in a cylindrically bounded dusty plasma containing collisional and streaming components have also drawn much attraction because they can explain the boundary effects for the streaming charged particles in an electric field and the dissipative streaming instability [3,16].…”
