Involvement of DPP9 in gene fusions in serous ovarian carcinoma

Abstract: BackgroundA fusion gene is a hybrid gene consisting of parts from two previously independent genes. Chromosomal rearrangements leading to gene breakage are frequent in high-grade serous ovarian carcinomas and have been reported as a common mechanism for inactivating tumor suppressor genes. However, no fusion genes have been repeatedly reported to be recurrent driver events in ovarian carcinogenesis. We combined genomic and transcriptomic information to identify novel fusion gene candidates and aberrantly expre… Show more

“…The outcome of this processing and formation of a neo N terminus may alter the life span or activity of a variety of proteins (15,18). They are a focus of attention because of their relevance in immune response and cancer (9,11,(18)(19)(20)46). Therefore, molecular structures of both targets are a valuable basis for development of specific inhibitors.…”

“…DPP9 activity is also connected to pathophysiological conditions, as promoting tumoregenicity and metastasis in nonsmall cell lung cancer (19). Recently, DPP9 fusion genes were identified in highgrade serous ovarian carcinoma, suggesting that DPP9 rearrangements might play a role in tumorigenesis or tumor progression (20).…”

“…found CRHR1‐KANSL1 to be the most frequent fusion transcript in their series (2.7% of all tumors). Our group recently reported the involvement of DPP9 in two out of 18 samples of HGSC karyotypically characterized by rearrangements of chromosome 19 8. Taken together, these results suggest that ovarian cancer is not characterized by highly recurrent fusion transcripts.…”

“…Accumulated evidence indicated that WFDC family played great roles in the progression of carcinoma. [28][29][30][31] Additionally, some of them has been identi ed as biomarkers of diagnosis of lung cancer. [32][33][34] Here, the members of WFDC family were selected to do further comprehensive analysis of their roles in lung cancer.…”
