Investigations of the Emission Characteristics of a Dual-Fuel Gas Turbine Combustion Chamber Operating Simultaneously on Liquid and Gaseous Fuels

Abstract: This study is dedicated to investigations of the working process in a dual-fuel low-emission combustion chamber for a floating vessel’s gas turbine. As the object of the research, a low-emission gas turbine combustion chamber with partial premixing of fuel and air inside the outer and inner radial-axial swirls was chosen. The method of the research is based on the numerical solution of the system of differential equations which represent the physical process of mass and energy conservation and transformations … Show more

“…Smog may have negative impacts on the air quality and people's health since NOx and PM help to create it (Nagarajan et al, 2022;Stelmasiak et al, 2017). These emissions are linked to respiratory disorders, heart problems, and higher death rates (Bakır et al, 2022;Serbin et al, 2021). Diesel engine SO2 emissions can damage ecosystems and contribute to acid rain.…”

“…They not only serve the travel needs of people but also play a lifeline role in the supply chain, especially in the current period of globalization (Nguyen and Bui, 2021;Rudzki et al, 2022). Most of the energy supplied to the transportation industry comes from fossil fuel sources such as gasoline or diesel (Fernández et al, 2020;Serbin et al, 2021). Even so, the misuse of fossil fuels can create negative impacts on society (Stelmasiak et al, 2017;Yang et al, 2019).…”

“…The use of gas turbine engines on such vessels [4][5][6] has emerged as a promising approach to improving their technical and economic performance. Previous studies [7][8] have shown that the simultaneous operation of gas turbine engines with fuels differing in phase state is possible, and the problems arising during the simultaneous operation of low-emission gas turbine combustion chambers on different fuels have been identified. To address these problems, the plasma-chemical method of combustion intensification [9][10] offers a promising way to improve the efficiency of using various hydrocarbon fuels.…”
