Investigation of post-discharge processes in nitrogen at low pressure

Abstract: The processes which are a consequence of neutral active particles presence in post-discharge nitrogen-filled tube at 13.3 mbar pressure have been analyzed. The analysis has been performed based on the experimental data of electrical breakdown time delay as a function of afterglow period τ. The most significant parameters such as applied voltage, discharge current, time, and exposure to radiation have been varied. It has been shown that the increase in applied voltage and discharge time, as well as exposure to … Show more

“…The purpose of the digital subsystem was to make fast and accurate detection of signals from the analog subsystem and to handle the measured data. shown [8] that this value of g t was sufficient enough to attain steady-state discharge conditions. Prior to measurement of d t , w U and g I were adjusted manually, while τ and d t values were software input parameters.…”

“…Similar investigation was conducted in nitrogen-filled gas tube, as could be seen for example in Refs. [13,14]. It should be noted that similar research with gaseous components was conducted, for example, with HVDC components estimating the distribution of the electric field and the voltage holding of the designed geometry [15].…”
