Investigation of Optimization Techniques on the Elevator Dispatching Problem

Abstract: In the elevator industry, reducing passenger journey time in an elevator system is a major aim. The key obstacle to optimising elevator dispatching is the unpredictable traffic flow of passengers. To address this difficulty, two main features must be optimised: waiting time and journey time. To address the problem in real time, several strategies are employed, including Simulated Annealing (SA), Genetic Algorithm (GA), Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm (PSO), and Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA). This re… Show more

“…The total loads on the bearings (Tsl) are the sum of Tcs, Tcw and Owb values. For the lifetime calculation, the loads per bearing are calculated with the equations in (1)(2)(3)(4)(5)(6). As a result, the load acting per single bearing was obtained as 5381.88 N. 𝑀 𝑐𝑠 = 𝑄 + 𝑊 𝑐 + 𝑊 𝑓…”

“…Due to the increase in the number of passengers and cargo loads in high-rise buildings, there was a need to increase cabin capacities. The capacity increase is a more suitable method since the installation of another elevator system will be costly [1]. Since increases in car load have a direct effect on the motor shaft and connection parts, they should be taken into account in the design and selection of the elevator motor.…”
