“…The peak observed at 2745 cm À1 belongs to the vibration band of the -CH 2 band, while the peak seen at The two bands observed in the 721 and 595 cm À1 regions are the characteristic bands of the -CH-group in the structure of the benzene ring, and the planar bending vibrations of the benzene ring (Yang et al, 2002). The stretching vibration band of the C--O carbonyl group, which should be at 1700 cm À1 and pointing to the charge transfer reaction between PS polymer and Al 2 O 3 -NP (Bhavsar et al, 2018), was not observed in our experimental results. Thus, it can be said that the bond between PS polymer and Al 2 O 3 -NP is adsorption due to weak interaction or electrostatic interaction.…”

“…Bands at 762 cm −1 and 3002 cm −1 corresponded to an out of plane C–H bending mode and the C–H stretching mode of the phenyl ring. Bands appearing at 1451, 1494, and 1602 cm −1 could be accounted for by the C=C stretching mode …”

“…Polystyrene (PS) is a highly stable and non-polar linear polymer that contains benzene as a pendant group ( Bhavsar et al, 2018 ; Shakeri et al, 2022a ). Its exceptional properties, including high mechanical and thermal stability, chemical resistance, biocompatibility, and optical transparency, make it an attractive material for microfluidic device fabrication ( de Oliveira et al, 2021 ; Zhou et al, 2021 ).…”

“…Its exceptional properties, including high mechanical and thermal stability, chemical resistance, biocompatibility, and optical transparency, make it an attractive material for microfluidic device fabrication ( de Oliveira et al, 2021 ; Zhou et al, 2021 ). Furthermore, PS substrates can have their optical properties adjusted by incorporating various dopants in their structure, making it possible to tailor the optical properties of PS substrates to suit specific applications in microfluidics ( Bhavsar et al, 2018 ; Sivakumar & Lee, 2020 ). However, it is important to note that PS can undergo degradation or physical and chemical changes upon exposure to light of wavelengths below 380 nm ( Bhavsar et al, 2018 ).…”
