Investigation of modified WPM medium for the best meristem proliferation of Corylus avellana L.

Abstract: Cultivation of Corylus avellana L. in Turkey is performed generally in the northern regions where it is an important source of livelihood for the local farmers. More than 70% of world hazelnut production is supplied by Turkey, but compared with other countries, Turkey’s hazelnut production area is quite narrow. In this study was aimed to develop an effective in vitro production for seven local cultivars of C. avellana. Therefore, WPM medium supplemented with 6-Benzylaminopurine (BAP) was modified by using sing… Show more

“…They were incubated for 4-6 weeks at 27±2 °C temperature, 16/8 hour photoperiod and 50μmol-1 m -2 s -1 white daylight fluorescently illuminated at standard culture conditions [22]. For in vitro mass propagation of S. lycopersicum micro-shoots after germination and development stage, the micro-shoots were obtained with at least a binodal segment from each plant material under sterile conditions then, they were transferred to MS medium containing 1mgL -1 BA [23]. It was incubated for 4-6 weeks at standard culture conditions described above.…”
