We introduce a new protocol called VQAPM to assure quality voice in VoIP perspective when communicating nodes are the part of some MANET. We use two specific parameters of voice communication over IP: one is voice codec and the other is IP packet length. A node in MANET is selected as MVCH (MANET Voice Communication Head) that applies the proposed algorithm to determine an optimum combination of bit rate and packet length and assigns it to the requesting node for a VoIP session to ensure efficient voice quality. VQAPM considers the congestion factor in multiple route MANETs and is applied on the best available path determined through a traffic allocation algorithm keeping in view the level of congestion on the route so that overall efficiency of the system is not compromised. Our simulation study reveals that VQAPM increases voice quality in a communication session when results are obtained for a few key metrics of Quality of Service.

Developments in mobile devices and wireless networking provide the technical platform for video streaming over mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs). However, efforts to realize video streaming over MANETs have met many challenges, which are addressed by several different techniques. Examples include cross-layer optimization, caching and replication, and packet prioritization. Cross-layer optimization typically leverages multiple description video coding and multipath routing to provide the receiver(s) sufficient video quality. Caching and replication add tolerance to disruptions and partitioning. In this paper, we identify the challenges of realizing video streaming over MANETs, and analyze and classify the proposed techniques. Since 65 % of the identified involve cross-layering design, we study the distribution of joint optimization and parameter exchanges. Due to the importance and complexity of evaluating the techniques, we analyze the common methods, indicating that the research domain suffers from a problem of comparability.

In this paper is considered optimal packet size definition for delay sensitive traffic in WLAN based ad hoc networks. The aim of the paper is to introduce a fuzzy set theory based online sample size definition model, which optimize packet size of delay sensitive traffic for prevailing network conditions. The selected input parameters for the model are a packet error rate (PER) and a change of PER. The model was validated by simulating delay sensitive VoIP traffic. The results prove that the WLAN based ad hoc network with AODV routing and VoIP transactions has an optimal packet size. The results also demonstrate that the developed fuzzy model is able to set sample size values to the prevailing optimum level very fast.
