Introduction to Fourier analysis using IT tools of Laboratory of Technical Aids of Teaching IF UJ.

Abstract: The general aim of this article is to present didactic aspects of familiarizing students with the Fourier analysis. This didactic process issues through the use of IT tools of Laboratory of Technical Aids of Teaching is discussed. There are four separate computer stations, differing in software, where students learn step by step: composing signals from single harmonics, visualization through images of rotating vectors of harmonic signal composition, operation of a virtual generator of a given number of harmoni… Show more

“…It is recognized by other studies that the Fourier transform material is understood as a difficult one (Kohaupt, 2015), even though the material for Fourier transform is a unifying topic in the field of STEM study (Shoenthal, 2014). It is recommended to use virtual simulation to teach the concept of Fourier transform (Wietecha et al, 2021). In addition, the biggest challenge for CT training is the limitation of face-to-face learning caused by the Covid-19 pandemic crisis (Silva et al, 2022).…”

“…The proposal of this work is novel and original due to the way of introducing the Fourier Transform using the oscillatory or periodic movement [22]; this being one of the best known phenomenon in nature or mechanics; and with which it is possible to apply and explain the Fourier Transform. Most of the reviewed bibliography introduces the Fourier transform by studying signals and generally analyzing a certain physical phenomenon, [24][25][26][27][28]. With the proposal presented in this article, it is possible to introduce the concept of the Fourier transform by experimentally observing on a screen the graphic behavior of the oscillatory movement in the temporal domain as well as in the frequency domain, as explained in Sec.…”

“…The latter is possible thanks to Joseph Fourier [4,[24][25][26][27][28][29]; who developed a tool capable of observing the signal, or signals, that give a certain appearance to a signal observed in the time domain. This tool is better known as the Fourier Transform.…”
