These are exciting times for quantum physics as new quantum technologies are expected to soon transform computing at an unprecedented level. Simultaneously network science is ﬂourishing proving an ideal mathematical and computational framework to capture the complexity of large interacting systems. Here we provide a comprehensive and timely review of the rising ﬁeld of complex quantum networks. On one side, this subject is key to harness the potential of complex networks in order to provide design principles to boost and enhance quantum algorithms and quantum technologies. On the other side this subject can provide a new generation of quantum algorithms to infer signiﬁcant complex network properties. The ﬁeld features fundamental research questions as diverse as designing networks to shape Hamiltonians and their corresponding phase diagram, taming the complexity of many-body quantum systems with network theory, revealing how quantum physics and quantum algorithms can predict novel network properties and phase transitions, and studying the interplay between architecture, topology and performance in quantum communication networks. Our review covers all of these multifaceted aspects in a self-contained presentation aimed both at network-curious quantum physicists and at quantum-curious network theorists. We provide a framework that uniﬁes the ﬁeld of quantum complex networks along four main research lines: network-generalized, quantum-applied, quantum-generalized and quantum-enhanced. Finally we draw attention to the connections between these research lines, which can lead to new opportunities and new discoveries at the interface between quantum physics and network science.

We present a comprehensive approach to transform a partially entangled pure state into a maximally entangled state, utilizing only local operations and a single copy of the entangled state. Our approach eliminates the need for multiple copies of entangled states, bilateral operations, and the time-consuming partial-collapse weak measurements. Integrating ancilla qubits, rotation gates, and CNOT gates, we simplify the process of enhancing entanglement, achieving significant efficiency using only a single partially entangled state. Assuming perfect local operations, we showcase the efficacy of our method through both mathematical analysis and the practical implementation of the corresponding circuit in Qiskit. Furthermore, we explore the impact of imperfect local operations, specifically focusing on the CNOT gate and measurement, for a comprehensive analysis. Additionally, we address the case of unknown parameters in the partially entangled pure state and introduce a robust method to effectively handle this uncertainty, ensuring reliable entanglement fidelity optimization in practical situations. We extend our investigation to the application of our method to mixed initial entangled states. Our results demonstrate the reliability of our method in increasing entanglement even in the presence of phase damping and amplitude damping. Additionally, we illustrate its effectiveness in transforming specific mixed initial states in the presence of depolarization into states with enhanced entanglement.

Quantum annealing is a quantum computing approach widely used for optimization and probabilistic sampling problems. It is an alternative approach designed due to the limitations of gate-based quantum computing models. The method is observed to have a significant impact on different fields such as machine learning, graphics, routing, scheduling, computational chemistry, computational biology, security, portfolio, and others despite the fact that it is relatively new. This research provides a systematic review of research development trends in the field of quantum annealing and analyzes how it has been implemented in different problem domains. The results are expected to serve as the basis to identify the opportunities and challenges of research related to its implementation. The main contribution of this systematic review is to summarize different implementations of quantum annealing. It is also to analyze the prospect and opportunities in one of the problem domains with the greatest interest which is machine learning.
