Intra-variability of some biochemical parameters and serum electrolytes in rainbow trout (Walbaum, 1792) bred using a flow-through system

Abstract: This study aims to evaluate some biochemical parameters and serum electrolytes in cultured rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss (Walbaum, 1792) to evaluate a potential correlation with biometric parameters (weight and length). For this purpose, 100 cultured trout (300-700 g weight range, 25-38 cm length range) bred on a fishfarm were used for the study. Physico-chemical characteristics of water were measured on the farm. Blood samples were collected from each fish to analyze the following parameters: glucose, tri… Show more

“…Contradiction in results might happen by utilization of different levels and types of LPL. Moreover, total protein, glucose and albumin as indicators of nutritional and health condition (Fazio et al, 2021) demonstrated no significant changes in fish fed experimental diets (p > .05). Similarly, addition of lysophospholipid did not affect glucose value in earlier study on crucian carp (HongXia Li, Liu, et al, 2010).…”

“…As a result of the researches, many chemical compounds, including pesticides, cause ecosystem and environmental pollution and cause different biochemical and physiological damage such as genotoxicity on the species in terms of species health, insu ciency of the antioxidant system as a result of toxicity in vital organs, suppression in the hormone and immune system (Gibbons et al 2014;Demirci et al 2018;Liu et al 2018;Hoseini and Youse 2019; El-Garawani et al 2022). In studies with aquatic experimental animals, changes in blood serum enzymes (AST, ALT, ALP), metabolites (albumin, BUN, creatinine, uric acid, and urea) and electrolytes (Na + , K + , Ca + 2 ) are used as important biochemical biomarkers (Fazio et al 2021). Similarly, ATPases enzyme activities (Na + /K + ATPase, Ca + 2 ATPase) changes are a popular markers for monitoring freshwater ecosystems pollutants (Saravanan et al 2018;Veedu et al 2022).…”
