By the late 1980s, 'healthy eating' had largely failed as a public health discourse in Britain. Rather than providing consumers with a clear set of behavioural guidelines, it had fragmented into a confusing and ill-defined set of messages. In direct contrast to the anti-smoking campaign, which had succeeded in convincing large swathes of the British population to quit an unhealthy habit, the injunction to eat healthily failed to counteract rising levels of obesity in the 1990s, 2000s, and beyond. This article explores the emergence of a 'healthy eating' discourse in mid-to-late twentieth century Britain. It draws on a wide range of historical sources to consider how knowledge about food was re-fashioned across this period-by the state, by commercial actors, and by consumers themselves. While it is common to assert that the food and drink industry manipulated 'ordinary people' in this period, I argue that consumers were complicit in the shift towards unhealthy modes of consumption. They worked processed food products and 'healthy eating' messages into their everyday lives in contradictory ways. In turn, this article makes a strong case for histories of the everyday, arguing that 'small' histories of consumption can help to illuminate macro-level trends.

A tanulmány megvizsgálja a szimbolikus rendszerek egyes elemeit, az észlelésnek, a nyelvnek és a nemek reprezentációjának azon kontextusait, amelyek felépítik és naturalizálják azt a nemek hierarchiáján alapuló szimbolikus hatalmat és strukturális valóságot, amelynek egyszerre vagyunk elszenvedői és újrakonstruálói. Rávilágít továbbá a tudomány szerepére a nemi viszonyok hierarchikus rendjének előállításában és évszázadokon keresztül történő igazolásában. Mindezt a 20. század második felének filozófiai és társadalomtudományi, a posztstrukturalizmust, a fenomenológiát és a posztmodernt magába foglaló áramlatainak segítségével teszi, melyek – elsősorban a nyugati világban – jelentősen hatottak a nemekről és nemi viszonyokról való gondolkodásra. Végül a tanulmány fókuszba helyezi azokat a kísérleteket, amelyek a szimbolikus rendszerek erejével, a nyelven keresztül, a dekonstrukció eszközeivel próbálták lebontani a hierarchiát, majd áttekinti a nőiesség dekonstrukciójának a 20. század elején induló és máig tartó kísérleteit. A tanulmány választ keres arra, hogy a szimbolikus rendszerek különféle elemei hogyan tesznek fogékonnyá a hagyományos nemi szerepek és szerepelvárások elfogadására, és hogy hogyan használja ezeket az eszközöket korunk autoriter illiberalizmusa a patriarchátus restaurálásának jelenkori folyamatában, illetve hogyan használhatók ugyanezen szimbolikus eszközök a nemi hierarchiák és a nemi elnyomás elleni küzdelemben.

Marketing is the field of business studies that relates the firm to its wider environment, while its raison d'être is shifting to have wider societal implications beyond the limited dimension of the pure markets, wherein it was originated. The dimension of thought within the mainstream marketing is not adequate for the contemporary evolution of the design-based cyber-physical new economic-order.The current Zeitgeist of sustainability delivers many aspects that go beyond rational economics Weltanschauung, which has occupied marketing-thought by focusing on short time-horizons and the spectrum of the field's applicability based on transactional and mercantile market relations.The dissertation addresses these trends and develops a unified logical framework for marketing in the contemporary era, coined as the "Design Weltanschauung" (DWA), wherein it paves a path to conceptualize the necessary rapprochement between the fields of design and marketing designed as a course-correcting pivot within the field, called the "Design Dominant Logic" (DDL) for an integrative marketing scholarship and practice. DDL evolves marketing beyond its transactionary modus operandi towards a meaning-laden unconcealment of artefacts, which goes beyond the dimensions of a "Unique Sales and Value proposition" towards the notions of "Unique Meaning and Design Propositions", which are based on the co-evolutionary foundations of the contemporary interconnected and globalized cyber-physical-realities. While, marketing originated in a "market(ing)-to" foundation and the latest developments, were founded on a "market(ing)-with" premise, the author has introduced a new foundation of the "marketin(ing)-within", which reflects the contemporary intertwined-ness of marketing with the advancements of technology. Hence, the dissertation has paved a solid path for marketing's shifting raison d'être, wherein marketing is dominated by Artificial intelligence (AI). The dissertation has designed a marketing interpretation for AI integration and also shifted the perceptions of the role of the organizational structural embodiment and ethos for the state of theory and practice for marketers to navigate towards creating meaningladen artefacts' and innovations, wherein customers can self-actualize based on the "requisitevarieties" the firms can offer.The DWA establishes a more embracive logic for marketing replacing the pure economic view that seems to be out of touch with the challenges the firms and societies face.
