Background During their training process, nursing students carry out internships in different care settings, which implies direct contact with more than one patient simultaneously. Their hands represent a vehicle for transmitting pathogens that cause healthcare-related infections. Various interventions have been proposed to improve nursing students' knowledge or compliance to hand hygiene. However, the information on these interventions is scattered in the literature. Objectives This study was conducted to identify and describe the interventions to improve knowledge or compliance to hand hygiene in nursing students evaluated in the scientific literature. Methods The scoping review methodology guided by the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) was adopted. Screening and data extraction were performed by two reviewers using templates developed by the authors. Results Thirteen studies were included. Education and training were highlighted as the central core components for interventions. The duration ranged from 15 min to 1 week. The number of sessions varied between one to three sessions. The content was based mainly on the recommendations of the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Conclusions There is a limited body of interventions to improve knowledge or compliance to the hand hygiene technique in nursing students. Education and training were highlighted as the central core components for interventions. New primary studies are needed and should include a description in detail of the characteristics of the interventions.

Conflitos de interesse: nada a declarar. ResumoObjetivo: Identificar o entendimento sobre biossegurança e segurança do paciente na visão de professores e estudantes de enfermagem, no contexto de Brasil e Portugal.Métodos: Trata-se de estudo de abordagem qualitativa, composto de 14 professores e 44 estudantes de três instituições públicas de ensino, sendo duas brasileiras e uma portuguesa. Incluíram-se no estudo os estudantes das últimas fases dos cursos de nível médio, graduação e licenciatura, por já terem contemplados eixos relativos à biossegurança e a segurança do paciente, além dos respectivos professores da fase. A coleta se deu por triangulação, com uso de entrevistas e observação. Para a organização e a análise, usaram-se recursos do software para pesquisas qualitativas Atlas.ti 22 e preceitos da análise de conteúdo temática.Resultados: Ficou evidente, nos dois países, que os professores e estudantes reconheceram as premissas que envolviam a biossegurança e a segurança do paciente, devendo compor o ensino de enfermagem em sua transversalidade, ressaltando que biossegurança e segurança se inter-relacionavam na prevenção dos eventos adversos. Foi notória a importância do cuidado de si e do outro, da influência do arcabouço normativo na orientação da prática e da existência de fragilidades no conhecimento e na aplicação prática. Conclusão:O ensino e as normas da biossegurança e da segurança do paciente, como também do conhecimento dos professores e dos estudantes sobre os temas influenciam na prática segura e na qualidade dos cuidados de enfermagem. A solidez desses conhecimentos é essencial em crises sanitárias, assumindo relevância ímpar na prevenção das infecções e na sensibilização, para o dever do comportamento seguro em saúde.

El lavado de manos a lo largo de los años ha demostrado ser el método efectivo para la prevención de la transmisión de microorganismos (virus, bacterias, parásitos y hongos) además, permite disminuir la morbilidad por Infecciones Intrahospitalarias (IIH). El término “Adherencia” ha sido adoptado como una alternativa a la palabra “cumplimiento” y para que ello exista debe prevalecer el “conocimiento”. El objetivo aquí fue analizar los factores que permiten que exista adherencia al lavado de manos en estudiantes de enfermería mediante la revisión sistemática porque la seguridad del paciente es una prioridad de cualquier sistema de salud, y una de las medidas más efectivas es la higiene de las manos. La obtención de información se basó en el diagrama PRISMA, para la búsqueda inicial de artículos científicos en bases de datos como: Scielo, PubMed, Science Direct y Google Académico. Para la selección de documentos científicos se determinaron criterios de inclusión y exclusión, la selección se realizó de forma independiente, se revisó los títulos y en aquellos que contuvieron la población objetivo y las variables a analizar se revisó el resumen para verificación. Se solicitó los textos completos, de los que cumplieron los criterios de selección. El resultado de este estudio recalca que el nivel de conocimiento del lavado de manos es un factor primordial para determinar la adherencia a esta estrategia buscando la mejora de la salud y bienestar de los pacientes.
